XAT 2021 Analysis

Logical Reasoning And Verbal Ability

The 2021 XAT result shows that this section had 15 questions to assess comprehension and reading ability and comprised of 6 passages in XAT 2021. While the Grammar and FIB questions were easy, the 2 question poem was of medium difficulty. The jumble questions in 2 paragraphs were also moderately hard. Most well-prepared students attempted 20-26 questions since the time limit of 165 minutes meant questions could be answered in any order and because more than 8 un-attempted questions also meant negative marks.

Analytical Reasoning And Decision Making

This interesting thing was paper was similar to the previous XAT exam papers in 2020, 2019 and 2018. As no singlet questions were included, the resolving and reading of the questions were much easier. Analytical Reasoning and Mathematical questions were not present, and thus, the time allotted was sufficient for decision making, with the questions being about simple decision situations.

Data Interpretation And Quantitative Ability

The section quizzing Data Interpretation and involving Quantitative Analysis was much simpler than the papers of the previous years. None of the 9 DI questions and 19 QA questions were too hard. There were a few Algebra and numbers-oriented questions with 7 questions from Arithmetic, providing sufficient time for answering.

Even assuming a candidate was not very oriented in these subjects, the questions were straightforward. The 3 sets of data interpretation questions too had 9 questions based on logical reasoning, scatter plots, and simple ratio/proportion. The levels not being too hard, a candidate could easily answer about 17 questions in an hour to 70 minutes.

General Knowledge

The difficulty levels did not change for the 25 General Knowledge questions. Most of them were from the static GK questions from areas like Technology, Science, Economy, Geography, etc., and were simple statement based questions. The current GK knowledge was tested using awards, famous personalities and business economy queries. This section was moderately hard, and a score of answering 12 to 14 questions is reasonable for admission to XAT colleges.

Thus the expected cutoff scores for the HRM and BM courses in a reputed college can be expected to be from 93 to 95 for male candidates and 91 to 93 for female candidates. The SC candidates can expect to have a cutoff ranging from 65 to 66, while the ST candidates XAT cut off scores are expected to be around 56 to 61.

Conclusion

The XAT cut off scores are high, and a candidate should practise and prepare well for the XAT-2022 exam. The general knowledge and decision making sections make the XAT Result harder to achieve. Besides, the speed-based exam has negative marking and demands a wide variety of attentiveness, speed and accuracy to get XAT colleges admissions.
