AILET Notification 2022 - Complete details

The National Law University conducts the AILET or the All India Law Entrance Test for admission of students into their undergraduate, postgraduates, and doctorate level. The national-level law examination is conducted for admitting students to the law programs in NLU Delhi. The National Law University Delhi has started its online registration process for its national-level law examinations. Candidates who wish to apply should have read the AILET notification on the official website.

AILET Notification for 2022

The NLU Delhi has published the complete schedule for the All India Law entrance test. Here are the important points to keep in mind.

  • The last date to submit the AILET application form online is now extended to May 25, 2022.
  • The university has changed the examination pattern. There will be three sections now, which are the English language, General knowledge, Current affairs, and Logical reasoning. Legal aptitude and the mathematics section have been removed from the paper.
  • The minimum age to apply for the examination is 18 years.

AILET Notification – The total number of seats

As per the AILET notification, the university has released a total of 198 seats to offer admission through AILET merit. There are 22 seats for the foreign nationals and the OCI/PIO.

Here are the credentials of the seat allocation

  • BA LLB Hons - 110+10 seats
  • LLM – 70+10 seats
  • Ph.D. – 18+2 seats

The seats are offered separately for each course. The reservation for the seats is as under.

  • Scheduled caste – 15%
  • Scheduled tribe – 7.5%
  • OBC Non-creamy Layer - 22%
  • EWS – 10%
  • Persons with Disability – 5%
  • Kashmiri Migrants - One supernumerary seat
  • Residents of Jammu & Kashmir - Two supernumerary seats

AILET Notification Eligibility Criteria

The National Law University Delhi has set some eligibility criteria that should be satisfied to be eligible for the entrance examination. Your application form will stand rejected if you do not fulfill these eligibility criteria.

AILET Eligibility Criteria LLB

You should have passed the 10+2 or an equivalent examination with 45% minimum marks. If you appeared for the class 12 exam in 2002, then you are eligible to apply.

AILET eligibility criteria for LLM

You should have completed your graduation or an equivalent degree with a minimum aggregate of 50%. You can apply for the examination if you are in the final year of LLB.

AILET Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D.

You should hold the LLM or an equivalent degree and should have passed with 55% marks. The SC/ST category has a relaxation of 50%. If you have completed your law degree in any discipline, then you can apply for the examination.

AILET Application 

The AILET notification clearly states that you can fill out the application form through the online mode only. There are five stages involved. This includes registration, selection of the course, filling the form, uploading the documents, and fee payment.

  • Visit the official website.
  • Enter the basic information and complete the registration
  • Get the auto-generated user id and password
  • Log into your account with the login credentials
  • Enter all the details required
  • Choose the desired centre for the exam
  • Upload your scanned documents
  • Pay the application fee through the online or offline mode

The application fee is Rs.3050 for the Gen and OBC categories, Rs. 1050 for the SC/ST and PWD categories. BPL SC/ST and PWD categories are not charged any fees=

AILET Exam Pattern

It is important to be aware of the AILET exam pattern. Knowing the pattern gives you a fair idea of the number of questions asked in each section, the marking scheme, and the difficulty level of the examination.

  • The BA LLB is a five-year program, and it consists of three sections, namely general knowledge and current affairs, English, and logical reasoning. The paper contains 150 questions, and this is for 150 marks. The time duration is 90 minutes. One mark is awarded for the right answer, and 0.25 marks are deducted for a wrong answer.
  • For the LLM examination, there are 100 MCQ questions and two essay-type descriptive questions. The objective question carries 100 marks, and the essay-based questions have 25 marks each.

Preparing for the AILET examination

Over 14000 students appear in the AILET examinations competing for just 110 seats. Candidates need to follow the AILET notification and appear for the examination in a holistic way. The preparation should be comprehensive, covering all the aspects of the examination. Before the examination date, the candidate should have completed his syllabus and solved a good number of questions and mock test papers.
